Demonstration by Glenn Kraly, Euclid Blue

Our October meeting featured Glenn Kraly, Color Specialist, from Euclid Blue Copy and Graphics Center located at 908 East 222nd Street, Euclid, OH.  That’s right across the street from the very popular Wojtila’s Bakery.  Glenn’s presentation was on “Printing and Digital Options for your Artwork and Photo’s”. Glenn started by informing us that he was not a public speaker, could not draw a stick figure to save his life (sounds like someone else we know) and he is not a photographer.  However, he does know about color and the use of large plotters and scanners to enlarge and create pictures.  We thank Glenn for his presentation.  He can now add public speaker to his list of accomplishments.

First a little history....Euclid Blue has changed its focus several times since it was established in 1956.  Then, a strong smell of ammonia from ‘blue prints’ could be detected as you entered the store.  In 1976, two women, Betty Busch and Ellie Lonchar, took over the business with a focus on drafting, by hand and computer generated.  The current owner is Jim Busch, who has owned and operated the business since 1990.  The rain forest mural on the side of the building was painted by Euclid Art Association member, Michelle Brown.

Glenn explained what EB can do for our members....beyond the usual B&W or colored copies.  He brought many samples to show us what can be done and the kinds of papers used.

If you want your original photo or artwork or digital image reproduced, enlarged and printed in color, Glenn is available to give you personal service.  He can create a collage from scanned photos or images and can even enhance your photos through their computer programs.  Euclid Blue also creates postcards, business cards, Christmas cards and wedding invitations.  Even though they have a large roll feed scanner, Glenn recommends that original artwork be reproduced using their 11 x 17 flatbed scanner.  He can even scan in two parts and merge into one image using Photoshop.  You will notice that their color reproductions have great color saturation.  Glenn will even work with you to have your image printed to fit your frame size.  In addition to their plotting and scanning services, Euclid Blue can laminate, mount your work on various boards and even add grommets and velcro.  Best of all...they offer Euclid Art members a 15% discount.

We had 24 in attendance, including one new member and one guest.  Our refreshment hosts for the evening, Elizabeth Edwards and Nancy Daly, set out many tasty treats for us to enjoy....homemade apple spice muffins with caramel frosting, a colorful delicious fruit salad, deviled eggs and an assortment of other goodies.  Great job, ladies!
