Eddie Mitchell – Artist’s Statement 2010

My Education & Career:

• BFA – Cleveland Institute of Art - Graduated in 1987 (Major: Painting; Minor: Drawing)
• Run a full time studio for the past 22 years
• Part time college art teacher for past 17 years (Lakeland Community College) 
• Represented in galleries in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida
• Commissioned for various, perhaps even prominent public locations
• Participated in over 125 art shows

My Painting Philosophy

I love the fact that light seems to engender a sense of universal & almost irresistible optimism.

It is this optimism that I am endeavoring to convey in my paintings.

I am also intrigued by the mysterious and immense energy of color;
Color helps to enhance this play of light and intensify this feeling of joyfulness.
