  • Our next monthly meeting is Monday, June 2, 2025 at 7:00pm in Fellowship Hall of East Shore United Methodist Church, 23002 Lake Shore Blvd., Euclid.  It’s our very popular, Members’ Art Critique.  Members are asked to bring only one picture to the evening’s critique.  The artist, Leigh Brooklyn will critique the artworks. . .more about her below.  It’s BYOT (Bring Your Own Treats) to share with 6 to 8 people, plated and "Ready-to-Serve".  All are welcome to attend.  Guest fee is a $3.00 donation.
  • We are fortunate to have this amazing award-winning multidisciplinary artist, Leigh Brooklyn critique our members’ art.  Born outside of Cleveland, Leigh enrolled in the Columbus College of Art and Design.  She transferred to The Cleveland Institute of Art after being inspired by the work of forensic artists.  There she earned her degree in Biomedical Illustration.  After working with several hospitals including the Cleveland Clinic, museums and research facilities, she switched her work’s focus back to her roots of figurative drawing and oil painting, followed by learning figurative sculpture, welding and an apprenticeship in stone carving.  She has won many awards, including the American Illustration AI-AP 40 & 42 Award placing her work among the top illustrators and artists in the country.  Leigh was one of the judges at the most recent Gates Mills Art Show.  Visit her website https://www.leighbrooklyn.com/.
  • We thank Michael Vary, Attorney at Law, for his presentation on "Intellectual Property Issues for Artists" at our May meeting.  He has a PhD in Chemistry from Yale University, a JD from Case Western and is a practicing patent attorney at the US Patent Office, various other jurisdictions including the US Supreme Court…a very impressive bio.  Mike talked about patents, trademarks and copyrights, providing us with good information about these very complex subjects.  It was nine years ago when he last spoke to our group.  "You all got older," he said teasingly.  We noticed he was grayer, too!  The meeting is available for viewing on EAA’s YouTube channel, click here.
  • Meet the winner of the 2025 Margaret E. Hain Memorial Art Scholarship − Euclid High School Senior, Sireniti Brown.  "I've always loved to paint and art in general since I was little."  Sireniti is fascinated by the many wonderful colors and different styles to try.  For her, painting is a way to escape reality when things get stressful.  She hopes that in the future her "art can also make someone else feel as though they can be at ease when life starts to become a little much".  Congratulations to Sireniti.  Visit the Events page for images of her art.
  • Are You Thinking About Entering? . . . "Everything Magical" exhibit, July 2 to July 30 at The Heights Library Lee Road Art Gallery.  Entry deadline is June 12.  Instructions and entry form are now available for printing on the Art Shows page.  Now is the time to start planning!
  • EAA SKETCHERS. Seven members took up the April ‘blind contour drawing’ challenge and shared their creations at the reveal on the April 27 zoom.  Visit the Events page to see the results.  Ellen Howard created this interesting abstract from her ‘blind drawing’ of a sewing machine attachment…a ruffler!
