A $2.00 donation is suggested for guests.

Refreshments will be served after the meeting and program. The hostesses for the Oct. meeting will be Lisa Urankar and Sherry Gallman.

The monthly Board Meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the North Street Gallery, 21129 North Street, Euclid. Chairpersons of committees are asked to be present and all members are invited.

PROGRAM
Our demonstrator this month is Holly Freedman. Holly was an Art Instructor and Department Chairperson for the City of Euclid Middle and High Schools from 1967 to 1997. She was named Northeast Ohio Art Educator of the Year in 1994 and Outstanding Educator, Euclid Teachers Association in 1994. She has a B.S. In Art Education from Kent State University and has done additional course work at Cleveland State University, The Cleveland Institute of Art, The Ohio State University and Walsh University. While too numerous to mention individually, Holly's professional experience encompasses service with many of the major Arts and Educational institutions in Ohio. An accomplished water-colorist, Holly has participated in many juried exhibitions, including shows put on by The Ohio Watercolor Society, The Willoughby Fine Arts Association and Prism Show, Baycrafters, and has had one person shows at the Euclid Public Library and the Cleveland Botanical Garden.

Holly's topic will be “Memory Paintings” and part of her presentation will involve having our members doing some watercolor painting of goldfish. She asks that you bring a few small brushes with you ifyou can. It sounds like fun, ruly, Mr. “Can't draw a stick figure to save my life”, is looking forward to seeing what I can do.

THANK YOU
To Stan Klak, who put on a most excellent demonstration in watercolor, sharing with us both his techniques and the philosophy behind his art. Stan was able to take his picture from a rough drawing all the way through to a finished work of art without sacrificing the usual high standard of his work. He explained how he uses frisket to keep areas of pure white on the paper and showed us the “Magic Moment” when taking it off revealed that part of the scene as the snow covered branches of an evergreen, which became even more realistic when he added shadows. This was one of our most well-attended meetings, and to a person, there were nothing but superlatives expressed about Stan's demonstration. Many thanks also to Stan for donating his time and demonstrator's stipend to the EAA.

We will now be setting aside one month each season for an EAA member to give an artistic demonstration. If you are interested in demonstrating at some time in the future, please contact Lisa Urankar at 440-679-1363 or Lee Peters at 216-531-6349. Please note, to avoid conflicts of interest, EAA demonstrators will not be paid.

Thanks also to Elizabeth Edwards and Linda McGreevy who supplied the goodies at our coffee after the meeting. We now have all our hosts and hostesses for next season, except for one person. Thanks to all who volunteered to provide our future refreshments and thanks to Sue and Tom Herrle who coordinate it all for us.

BRECKENRIDGE
It's time for the Breckenridge Village Fall Art Show. Our entry forms were mailed out last week and entries must be
received NO LATER THAN Tuesday, October 4. The gallery at Breckenridge is a really nice place to display a picture
and we have received a number of compliments from both residents and visitors on the high degree of quality of our
work. Martha Germano just finished a show there and has sold a number of pictures over the past few years.

Our 2011-2012 membership book is included with this mailing for those of you who missed getting them at last month's meeting. Please look it over and let us know if anything needs correcting.
