John Wardrope

It’s been a long, strange trip since my first award-winning exhibit in 1984 at the LCCC technology center.  I have since contributed to the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition, the annual CSU Spring Art Show, and EAA shows at the Euclid Public Library and Lakeland Community College.

I distinguished myself in high school with assignments including yearbook cover, greeting card, and logo designs.  I also created a series of pictures illustrating verbs in exchange for a passing grade in Spanish!

I completed the foundation program at the Cleveland Institute of Art and briefly studied illustration, which produced in me an intense passion for antiquarian picture-book collecting.  From about 1990 until recently I dedicated most of my life to cultivating my musical talents, and have performed professionally throughout Europe, visiting many magical places I studied in Art History classes.

My recent acquisition of a B.A. in Art from Cleveland State University has, in many respects, brought me full circle.  Having also minored in education, I have experienced visual art in other social and vocational contexts, as well as broadened the horizons of my own pictorial sensibilities.
